The Swedish Roots exhibition gives a glimpse of several different emigrant destinies. Some are well-known, and some are lesser known.
For example, did you know that Oscar Hedström from Lönneberga in Kalmar designed the first motorcycle prototype for the Indian Motorcycle Company or that in 1903 he broke the speed record for motorcycles at 90 km/h? Or that one of the leading figures in early swimming in America was Swedish Margareta “Greta” Johansson, who won Sweden’s first female Olympic gold in 1912?
The exhibition contains of a large wall collage where different interesting people with Swedish roots are presented.
