The Swedish Emigrant Institute research service only answers questions related to emigration. For questions regarding genealogy in general, we refer to the digital databases available such as Ancestry, ArkivDigital, SVAR-Swedish archival information, and myheritage.se
In the Research room at the House of Emigrants, we only accept pre-booked visits.
A visit to the Research room is free of charge. Here you will have the opportunity to independently use several of the largest databases.
If you want assistance from our staff in the research room there will be a charge of SEK 200 (~$25), to be paid after the visit.
If you wish to get your research question answered by our staff via e-mail, there will be an invoice of $50 per question attached in the e-mail. If you wish to receive a letter posted to you, make sure to let us know when filling out the questionnaire. Invoice will then be enclosed. We will also charge the postage as well as $0.25 per paper copy.
