Craftsmanship
The exhibition proudly showcases a selection of exclusive Swedish works from the museum’s own collection. The common thread is that the pieces have been handcrafted, resulting in sculpted glass. Despite the aesthetic beauty of the glass, some of the creators, like Toumo Nieminen, prefer to call themselves artisans rather than artists.
The Family and the Slaves
In Carl Johan De Geer’s exhibition The Family and the Slaves, furniture, fabrics, and images have been combined into seven different installations. They tell the story of confronting his own family’s involvement in slavery during the 17th century. The hands-on work of hammering and building the installations can be seen as a way of processing this unsettling discovery.

Mrs. Thyra Peterson’s Memorial Collection of Swedish-American Art shows a number of works from the Swedish-American art collection that was donated to Småland’s museum in 1935 by Charles S. Peterson in memory of his wife Thyra Peterson.
