The House of Emigrants is situated in the historical Swedish emigration district of Kronoberg. The House of Emigrants was inaugurated in August 1968 and is the Nordic region’s largest institute focusing on swedish emigration to North America.

In the The House of Emigrants there are exhibitions, archives, libraries and research activities. The exhibitions depict the great wave of emigration to America in the 19th and 20th centuries.

The research Room at The House of Emigrants

In the Research Room you can access unique source material from emigration to mainly America and Canada. There is also a large library of literateur on the American emigrations. The research Room also give you access to many digital databases.

The Research Room at The House of Emigrants is open for booked visits only.
